We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. I think the background may be a bit too busy though. Too many colors perhaps?
The multiple directions of the drips seems to mess up the flow of the piece, which detracts from the simplicity of the striped form, but it's an interesting dichotomy nonetheless.
I really like how the drips inside the figure (especially in the face) let the eye create its own forms of what the features are.
One technical critique I have is, it seems like you used gloss (or semi-gloss) on the background, but it looks like you used flat black on the stencil. It could be just the picture though.
Great work, I love it.
